Seva Saturdays

Ashram begins... Did you know the Sanskrit root of “ashram”, "śram". means “making an effort” - and according to our dear friend and ashram brother, Yogi Amitram, ashram means simply, “hard work”.

The Play Ashram village at Heart Hollow is scheduled to open up for our community on Thursday, June 6th and run until July 14th! Between now and then, there is plenty of hard work to be done to ready our 2024 ashram home! Please join us on the following Saturdays to work, play, eat and pray together…

June 1st

Arrive at the Farmhouse/Schoolhouse (1882 Hammonds Fork Rd, Disputanta, KY) by 12:45pm. We will walk or ride to Heart Hollow for our 3 hour work session from 1-4pm and then enjoy dinner and our sacred fire puja.

Please wear or bring appropriate clothing (rugged and protective shoes, clothing and gloves) and feel free to bring any tools or equipment (hand and long handled pruners, hard rakes, shovels, cutting/sawing equipment, etc.) that you think might be helpful as we prepare the old tobacco barn to serve as our ashram Great Hall (housing our camp kitchen, dining area and providing a comfortable covered area for rainy day practices or just hanging out!). We will also be setting up a dish washing station, outdoor shower, composting toilet and creating a covered wifi access area within range of the farm’s satellite internet access point. There are some trails to be established and some general preparation of camping areas as well as the set up of the fire pagoda and the dormitory tent(s).

In addition to outdoor labor, volunteers are needed to prepare dinner for each of the Seva Saturdays.

Please send a note to Leila at playashram@gmail.com (or via the link below) if you are planning to attend! Let us know the date(s) as well as how you would most like to serve
